LEAD 280. Leadership Strategies

This course will explore the key role of creating a vision that will shape the future of an organization and how to inspire and motivate others to share it. Through the use of assessment instruments, students will develop their own personal plans for what leadership means to them, what it means to an organization, and how they can build leadership capacity in others.

LEAD 317. Relationship Building

Credits: 3
Typically Offered: FALLSPR
This course covers critical components of being a leader. It focuses on discussions and role-plays that center around selected case studies. The classwork will directly relate to real-world experiences. The students will practice self-reflection on their path to growth in leadership while also focusing on building and nurturing the relationships necessary to succeed in business.

LEAD 395. Service Learning

Credits: 1
Repeat Status: Repeatable up to 6.00 credits.
Typically Offered: ONDEMAND
Designed to increase off-campus community involvement and awareness of civic responsibility, Service Learning gives students the opportunity to earn up to six semester hours of college credit while pursuing volunteer activities that have positive impact in the community. Some examples of activities that may serve as vehicles for Service Learning include: volunteer work at non-profit organizations (e.g., Kiwanis, Lions, etc.); serving as unpaid interns in local and state government; and organizing and participating in activities that are beneficial to the community as a whole (e.g. spring clean-up drives, neighborhood watch programs, meals-on-wheels, etc.). Students interested in Service Learning should discuss options with their academic advisors and/or faculty in areas related to the proposed activity.

LEAD 417. Ethical Leadership

Credits: 3
Prerequisite: PHIL 210.
Typically Offered: SPRING
This course focuses on ethics in the workplace and the role of organizational leaders in fostering ethical behavior while establishing an environment to minimize the risk of unethical choices. Foundational to this course is the emphasis on personal values and convictions as the basis of quality decision making. Students explore basic frameworks of ethical dealings and moral leadership through case studies, discussion, self reflection, and reading assignments.
